We reported last week that Google is working on a new application which would help promote UPI in India. The app was launched today in New Delhi at a high profile event attended by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. The app is available for Android as well as iOS users.
The app comes with many innovative new features which make it distinct from other similar apps such as PhonePe and BHIM. The biggest difference here is one ‘Cash Mode’ which facilitates proximity based transfer of money. If you want to pay for shopping at a store with Google Tez, simply use the ‘Cash Mode’ where you press on pay and the seller will press ‘Receive’. Your phone will then emit an audio signal which will be intercepted by Google Tez users nearby. You will then see a list of active Tez users and you can select the person you want to pay. This makes payments easy and you won’t even have to provide your Virtual Private Address or any personal details to those you’re looking forward to pay. Moreover, the app is quite secure too and it comes with ‘Tez Shield’ which promises a strong security. There’s also 24/7 support available for the app over the phone or over chat. Google has come out with a number of launch offers –
If you refer the app to your friend, both of you get Rs. 51. When you make a payment to any user for the first time, both of you get scratch cards of value of up to Rs. 1000 Upon making your first payment of more than Rs. 100, you would be eligible to enter into a draw where you stand to win up ot Rs. 1,00,000.
