Camera and Internal Storage
The primary snapper in the Intex Cloud FX is a 2 MP sensor. While this is too low, the handset misses LED flash for enhanced performance. However, there is a VGA front-facing selfie camera for making basic video calls. While the entry-level offerings come up with at least 5 MP primary snapper and LED flash, this camera set appears to be too low. But, we cannot expect the handset to include better camera features for the price it asks. The internal storage space is again paltry at 256 MB, of which users can access only 46 MB and it can be extended externally up to 4 GB using a micro SD card slot onboard. These storage options are way too less for users to store the necessary content.
Processor and Battery
The processor used is a 1 GHz that is assisted by a meager 128 MB of RAM. This combination of hardware aspects makes the Intex Cloud Fx a feeble on when it comes to competition with the entry-level Android based smartphones. Battery capacity is 1,250 mAh that sounds average for an affordably priced smartphone and it is rated to deliver a talk time of 4 hours and a standby time of 200 hours.
Display and Other Features
The display in Cloud Fx measures 3.5 inches in size and it packs a HVGA screen resolution of 480×320 pixels. This display is comparable to the screens on the low-end smartphones available in the market. Running on Firefox OS, the Intex Cloud Fx features connectivity aspects such as dual SIM functionality, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AGPS and 2G. Furthermore, the platform is based on Linux and runs HTML5 based universal applications and it comes pre-loaded with Adaptive App Search or the Single Window Search, Facebook, Twitter and more apps. Also, Aircel is providing free 1 GB of data for one month along with the Cloud Fx smartphone.
Comparison
The Intex Cloud Fx will be a stiff challenger to the entry-level smartphones including Firefox OS based Spice Fire One Mi-FX 1 and Android powered Micromax Bolt A065, Karbonn Smart A12 Star and Celkon Campus A15K among others.
Key Specs
What we Like
Low pricing targeting first time smartphone buyers
What we Dislike
Very low storage capacity
Price and Comparison
The Intex Cloud Fx is priced pretty low at Rs 1,999, but the handset seems to have compromised on many things. It is deliberate that the Firefox OS based phones are targeting the feature phone users planning for an upgrade, but this low-end market segment is already crowded with the Android devices making the competition tougher. It would be great to see better specced Firefox OS based devices with relatively higher but reasonable pricing for them to relish success.
