Display and Processor

Both phones offer some cutting-edge tech which include 5 inch displays. These 5-inch panels pack a full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels on both the phones, leaving nothing to choose from. This resolution churns out an amazing PPI of 441, which is far beyond what the human eye can detect for a single pixel, which means you are guaranteed to have an enjoyable time using any of the two devices (with regards to display) without any sort of pixelation on either device. As mentioned previously, the devices pack almost the identical specs, which includes a 1.5GHz quad core processor. This is the MT6589T, or the Turbo version of the MT6589 which runs at 1.2GHz. Along with a powerful quad core processor, the devices feature 2GB of RAM, which will allow for efficient and fluid multitasking on either device. Both devices will more or less be identical on the performance, so a choice cannot be made on the basis of processors.

Camera and Memory

Like most of the phones in this category, including the Canvas Turbo, Gionee Elife E6, etc., the Intex Aqua i7 too packs a 13MP main shooter at the rear. What’s surprising is that the front camera on most of these MT6589T phones seems to be the same 5MP unit, which really leaves nothing to choose from. Image quality from all of these devices is really good (although we haven’t tested the Canvas Turbo yet), so you have to base your judgement on other factors. A 5MP unit on the front is probably more than what you’ll need for video chat, manufacturers maybe want to please people who like taking self-portraits. The Canvas Turbo features 16GB of ROM without any methods to expand storage. On the other hand, the Intex Aqua i7 packs a good 32GB, double of what the Turbo has on offer. We really think that this might turn the table in favour of the i7 here, because with a phone having a 5 inch full HD display, you do expect the user to have a lot of user files like movies, sitcoms, games, etc. If you are one who does like having a lot of multimedia on your phone, you should go for the i7.

Battery and Features

Both phones come with just 2000mAh batteries which is pretty much on the lower side, and disappointing to an extent. With a 5 inch FHD phone, you expect to have at least 2500-2700mAh of battery. With a 2000mAh battery, you can expect the phone to die on you within 8-10 hours of charging the device if you are a somewhat heavy user. Otherwise, one work day max! Features wise, the Canvas Turbo comes loaded with a tonne of them – which includes gestures, unlocking techniques, etc. On the other hand, the i7 doesn’t pull off anything of that sort, but the addition of a microSD card slot will probably be enough to speak for the device.

Key Specs

Conclusion

Micromax have done well to come up with their first full HD phone, but there are a few shortcomings that include a smaller than average battery and non-inclusion of a microSD card slot. On the other hand, Intex have made a nearly perfect balance on the i7 with a powerful processor, good enough RAM and a good amount of ROM. However, the i7 too does not feature a battery that we would have liked to see – there’s the same 2000mAh unit on the i7 too. To conclude this comparison, we would advice anyone looking for a good multimedia device to go for the Intex Aqua i7 solely for the reason that the phone comes with 32GB of ROM that will be needed by you store your media files. It is always nice to have some extra storage, especially on high-end phones.
