Camera and Internal Storage

Panasonic has provided the handset with a 13 MP auto focus primary camera at the back supported by LED flash and capable of recording 1080p FHD videos. The front-facing 2 MP camera is also capable of recording decent videos and clicking selfies. The camera set on the handset appears to be decent enough for its price range and can definitely compete with the other phones in this segment. The internal storage is 8 GB, which is average, but this can be expanded up to 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card slot. Again, with expandable storage support there is no issue in this regard.

Processor and Battery

The processor used in the Panasonic P81 is a MediaTek MT6592 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.7 GHz speed. This processor is teamed up with a Mali450-MP4 GPU to handle graphic rich games and 1 GB of RAM to take charge of multi-tasking. Though the RAM appears to be low, it should be sufficient for moderate multi-tasking without any hassle. The battery capacity is 2,500 mAh that according to Panasonic can provide an acceptable backup from this reasonably priced phone. We expect this battery to last for at least one day under mixed usage.

Display and Other Features

The display used in Panasonic P81 is 5.5 inch IPS panel and it features HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Moreover, the IPS panel delivers superior viewing angles and color reproduction making it crisp and sharp. Unfortunately, the Panasonic P81 is still stuck with the same old Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and there is no word regarding any update. The phone supports several features such as Gesture Play, Pop-i Player and Dual Play – Dual Window.

Comparison

The Panasonic P81 with octa-core processor is claimed to a stiff competitor to others in the same class such as Intex Aqua Octa, Micromax Canvas Knight A350 and Karbonn Titanium Octane.
