Google launched UPI-based Tez mobile payments app in India back in September this year. The Tez app has support for several Indian banks allowing users to make hassle-free online payments. Now, Xiaomi has brought the UPI based payment on its online channels.
So, from now on when you select a payment option on Mi.com or Mi Store app, you can select UPI payment option for Tez. After choosing it, you just have to enter the UPI ID copied from your Google Tez profile. Xiaomi is currently running its No.1 Mi Fan sale on its online store, and the UPI based Tez payment option will ease the payment process for users. According to Xiaomi, its Mi.com store gets over 21 million visitors in a month and over 1 million daily active users on an average. Further, the Mi Store app on Google Play has over 20 million app installs with more than 6 million organic downloads as of now. Such user base will give a boost to Google Tez to some extent which already has processed over 140 million transactions since its launch. Commenting on the new payment option, Raghu Reddy, Head – Online Sales, Xiaomi India said, “Our vision is to bring innovation to everyone and our integration with Tez is another step forward in this direction. Xiaomi is currently the number one smartphone brand with a dominant online smartphone market share of 50.8%, of which a significant portion is attributed to Mi.com.
