It is worth noting that the company also didn’t launch the Mi Mix and Mi Note 2 in India. Therefore, the probability of Mi Note 3 or Mi Mix 2 launching in India is bleak, at least for now. Xiaomi’s changed approach can be attributed to the lukewarm reception of the Xiaomi Mi5. However, the company has no one to blame except itself for launching the basic variant with underclocked processor against the likes of OnePlus 3. Moreover, the company has been enjoying unprecedented success in the sub-15k price segment. Hence, it might have decided to stick to the price range targeting specific demographics. Nonetheless, ignoring the world’s second largest mobile phone market may prove costlier for the company in the long run. OnePlus will emerge as a winner because of this move from Xiaomi. It will become the undisputed king of 20k-30k price segment.
To recap, Mi 6 sports a 5.15 inch Full HD IPS LCD panel. The display brags a lot of perks like 1 nit lowest brightness, 600 nits’ maximum illumination, certification from National Eye Centre of China, 4096 smart backlight adjustment levels, high colour saturation and more. The phone rocks an under-glass fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button. Design-wise, the Mi 6 is indeed an eye candy. Its innovative 3D glass back combined with the 2.5D screen creates magic. Xiaomi’s brand new flagship is also splash resistant and immune to occasional or accidental contact with water. Unfortunately, the phone misses out the 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Talking about the internal specifications, the Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with the mighty Snapdragon 835 chipset. The 64-bit octa-core SoC is manufactured with the futuristic 10 nm process. The processor consists of eight custom-made Kyro 280 cores with a peak operating frequency of 2.45 GHz. The powerful Adreno 540 GPU handles the graphics performance. 6 GB LPDDR4x RAM is standard in every version of the Mi 6. It is mated with either 64 GB or 128 GB of onboard storage. Moving on to the optics, there is a dual 12 MP rear camera with 2X optical zoom and 10X digital zoom. The dual lens module features an iPhone 7 Plus-like setup with one primary lens and another telephoto lens. 4-axis OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) is present too. Coming to the connectivity options, the Mi 6 rocks a 2×2 dual Wi-Fi, 4G LTE (VoLTE), GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, etc. A 3350mAh battery juices up the phone. Software-wise, the handset runs Android Nougat underneath Xiaomi’s very own MIUI. One more notable feature of the Mi 6 is its stereo loudspeakers which somewhat compensates for the loss of 3.5 mm audio jack.
