In an interview with IANS, Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi’s India Head of Operations has stated that the firm is planning to launch a slew of offerings such as Mi4 smartphone, Mi Pad tablet and the Mi Band health centric band in India. Of the trio, the flagship handset is likely to launch post Diwali. Earlier this month, we have reported that the Xiaomi Mi4 will be launched in India by December and hence, this announcement from the company’s executive re-confirms the launch plans for its flagship model. Furthermore, Xiaomi is also planning to set up Mi Home experience zone in Bangalore within a time frame of four to six months. The Mi Homes are already available in China and the experience zones have a huge area that has been converted into Mi Store. These stores display the accessories and also double as service centers. In addition to these, the executive also revealed that the firm will start selling their offerings via their own mi.com website despite selling them via Flipkart. However, the time frame for the same is still no revealed. He has been quoted stating, “Setting up e-co mmerce operations from scratch takes time in India. In many countries, like in Singapore, we sell through mi.com.” Xiaomi stepped into the Indian smartphone arena with the launch of its yesteryear flagship model Mi3 on July 22 and has managed to sell around 95,000 units of the device so far. The firm has already come up with Mi service centers in Delhi and Bangalore to provide after sales service. In order to cater to the service requirements of the consumers in other cities, the executive revealed that the firm is planning to set up service centers in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Gurgaon.
